State Voting Delegates serve as the voice of their chapters during the SkillsUSA Massachusetts House of Delegates. Delegates take part in the organization’s student-led business, review and vote on matters that help guide SkillsUSA Massachusetts, and play an important role in the election of state officers. Through the experience, members strengthen leadership, communication, civic engagement, and their understanding of how SkillsUSA is governed.

STATE VOTING DELEGATES 

SkillsUSA is a student-led organization whose student members are responsible for governing the affairs outlined in the organization's bylaws. The SkillsUSA State Conference Delegate Program engages chapter-identified delegates to represent their schools by introducing, debating, modifying, and voting on delegate items, which may include organization bylaws, ad hoc committees, and SkillsUSA state officer elections.

As a result of the State Conference Delegate Program, the SkillsUSA mission is achieved by ensuring delegates can:

  • Demonstrate decision-making to make informed organizational decisions by engaging in training about parliamentary procedure and the decision-making process to execute the responsibilities of a delegate

  • Evaluate local and state needs related to career and technical education and SkillsUSA

  • Collaborate with peer delegates to analyze organizational goals, consider chapter-level needs, and provide input that represents their chapter's student membership and contributes to the achievement of the state organization's mission.

NOTES:

  1. A state officer candidate may serve as a delegate and vote but may not be seated in the House of Delegates meetings during campaign speeches and problematic questions.

  2. Delegates can also be competitors, but only contestants in a specific group of contests (Chapter Advisors consult registration guides)
