National Voting Delegates represent SkillsUSA Massachusetts during the National Leadership & Skills Conference and serve as the voice of our state in the national House of Delegates. Delegates participate in official business, consider issues and proposals affecting SkillsUSA members nationwide, and help elect the organization’s national student leaders. Through the experience, members strengthen leadership, communication, civic engagement, and gain a firsthand understanding of how SkillsUSA operates at the national level.

NATIONAL VOTING DELEGATES 

APPLY TO BE A NATIONAL VOTING DELEGATE

SkillsUSA is a student-led organization whose student members are responsible for governing the affairs outlined in the organization's bylaws. The SkillsUSA National Delegate Program engages state-identified delegates to represent their respective state associations in introducing, debating, modifying, and voting upon delegate items that may include organization bylaws, ad hoc committees, and the SkillsUSA national officer elections.

As a result of the National Delegate Program, the SkillsUSA mission is achieved by ensuring delegates can:

  • Demonstrate decision-making to make informed organizational decisions by engaging in training about parliamentary procedure and the decision-making process to execute the responsibilities of a delegate

  • Evaluate local and state needs related to career and technical education and SkillsUSA

  • Collaborate with peer delegates to analyze organizational goals, consider state-level needs, and provide input that represents their state's student membership and contributes to the achievement of the national organization's mission.

NOTES:

  1. A national officer candidate may serve as a delegate and vote but may not be seated in the House of Delegates meetings during campaign speeches and problematic questions.

  2. Delegates can also be competitors, but schedules should not conflict.
