Through school activities, community service, advocacy, recognition, and outreach, students and advisors showcase the value of SkillsUSA while celebrating career and technical education and the skilled workforce.

SkillsUSA Week is celebrated in February each year in SkillsUSA chapters nationwide. The event offers state associations, advisors, and student members the opportunity to promote SkillsUSA programs and activities at the local and state levels while highlighting the importance of the skilled trades.

While SkillsUSA Week is celebrated in February, every week is SkillsUSA Week for our committed chapters.

Students at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Harwich, Mass. collected supplies and donations for the Animal Rescue League shelter in Brewster, Mass. for a SkillsUSA Week service project.

Let’s bring the celebration to life! Explore each day below for ideas designed to spark engagement and showcase the power of the skilled trades.

Mission Monday +

SkillsUSA is the #1 workforce development organization for students. We empower students to become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders, and responsible community members.

Chapters: Recognize members, advisors, and champions who live the SkillsUSA mission every day.

What might this look like? Try:

  • Post a photo shout-out on social media for students and advisors who exemplify the mission.
  • Create a “Mission Wall” with quotes or photos.
  • Host a “Paper Plate Awards” ceremony with fun, personalized awards such as “Most Helpful Teammate,” “Future CEO,” or “Always Ready to Lead.”
Tools for Good Tuesday +

Chapters: Use your skills to give back to your school or community.

What might this look like? Try:

  • Host a quick fix-it event, such as repairing classroom items or organizing supplies.
  • Create thank-you cards for school staff.
  • Volunteer for a short project such as cleaning up a shared school space or courtyard.
Real-World Wednesday +

Chapters: Connect students with real industry professionals and explore career pathways through SkillsUSA Pathful.

What might this look like? Try:

  • Have students complete the “Careers and YOUR Interests” lesson to discover top career matches. College/Postsecondary members can also complete the Skills Assessment.
  • Assign “Building Your Resume” and connect it to competitions, officer elections, job shadowing, or future employment.
  • Host a live virtual industry chat using SkillsUSA Pathful’s Live Connections feature.

Advisors should submit industry chat requests at least two weeks before SkillsUSA Week to allow time for speaker coordination.

Think Big Thursday +

Chapters: Amplify the skilled trades through local advocacy and public relations.

What might this look like? Try:

  • Write a short article for your school newsletter highlighting the importance of CTE.
  • Create a poster or bulletin board display to recruit members for your SkillsUSA chapter.
  • Share a SkillsUSA Pathful career video or speaker clip on social media highlighting why the skilled trades matter.
Future Friday +

Chapters: Celebrate your future! Wear SkillsUSA gear or dress in your future career attire to showcase your goals.

What might this look like? Try:

  • Host a “Career Catwalk” where students wear future career attire and share their dream job.
  • Create a virtual vision board using Google Slides, with each student designing one slide representing their future career.
  • Have students create short- or long-term SMART goals in SkillsUSA Pathful using My Tracker → Goal Setting.
