September 11, 2016 - Lynn Vocational Technical HS Honors the City's First Responders in a 9/11 Tribute:

15 Septembers since the 9/11 tragedies which shook our Nation, Sunday, September 11, 2016 was a day filled with memorials, remembrances and through one of our SkillsUSA Chapters, a remarkable act of kindness emerged. While many people wondered how

to respectfully remember such a dark day in American history, Lynn Vocational Technical HS in Lynn, Massachusetts remembered 9/11

by thanking their city's first responders - those who selflessly keep us safe every day and were so critical in saving lives on and after 9/11.

Working with their community, the students and Advisors of the SkillsUSA program at Lynn Tech, and many volunteers present for Congressman, Seth Moulton's day of service, created thank you gift bags and delivered them to EVERY first responder in the city of Lynn! (every fire department, the police department, the EMTs and the nurses at Lynn Union Hospital's emergency room).

All of this could not have happened without the amazing support of the community and the selflessness of the students and teachers. Great job Lynn Tech SkillsUSA. You are Champions at Work! You can view their photo album here:

6-19-2016 - SkillsUSA National Officer from Massachusetts Selected as a 2016 Presidential Scholar.

SkillsUSA Massachusetts is proud to share that Samantha Dorwin, Machine Technology, McCann Technical HS has been selected as a

2016 Presidential Scholar. This is the first time in the program's 52 year history that CTE students were eligible for recognition through

the program.

The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964, by executive order of the President, to recognize and honor some of

our nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors. In 1979, the program was extended to recognize students who demonstrate

exceptional talent in the visual, creative and performing arts.

In 2015, the program was again extended to recognize students who demonstrate ability and accomplishment in career and technical

education fields. Each year, up to 161 students are named as Presidential Scholars, one of the nation's highest honors for high school

students.

Samantha received her scholar recognition in a medallion ceremony honoring the 2016 U.S. Presidential Scholars at the Andrew W.

Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, June 19th, at 7:30 p.m. ET. Samantha was among the nation's most distinguished

graduating high school seniors, recognized by Secretary of Education, John B. King, Jr., for their outstanding academic and artistic

achievements, their leadership, and their public service.

During the ceremony, each scholar was presented with the Presidential Scholar Medallion on behalf of the White House.

On Monday, June 20, at 8 p.m. ET, the scholars were again honored at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. This event

highlighted the 20 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts, whose performances will feature original artistic collaborations created,

composed, arranged, written, and choreographed by student artists.
