Fine Homebuilding and SkillsUSA #KeepCraftAlive Scholarship

In the spirit of the #KeepCraftAlive movement, applicants should celebrate the value and meaning of true craftsmanship in their trades and plan to continue their educations in community colleges, undergraduate programs or industry certification curricula. Fine Homebuilding will award the scholarships to students in fields such as architectural drafting, carpentry, cabinetmaking, electrical and residential wiring, HVACR, masonry, woodworking and plumbing. Selections will be based on completion of an application and a 300-word essay showing applicants’ passion for their craft, along with a letter of support from a teacher, administrator, SkillsUSA advisor or educational/professional mentor.

Harbor Freight Tools for Schools

SkillsUSA is proud to announce, in partnership with Harbor Freight Tools for Schools, a scholarship opportunity for SkillsUSA members. Eligible members can apply to receive up to $1,500 to assist in attending the 2019 National Leadership and Skills Conference. Applications will be accepted from March 15  – May 10, 2019. Marsha Daves Memorial Scholarship

SkillsUSA is pleased to be offering one annual merit-based $1,500 scholarship for college/postsecondary education a state officer in memory of the legacy left by our champion Marsha Daves. The scholarship recognizes how our student leaders use the personal skills they develop to be a team member, leader, employee, citizen and an effective individual that fulfills the mission of SkillsUSA. The Marsha Daves Memorial Scholarship is open to current SkillsUSA state officers who will be attending a college/postsecondary school in the next school year. 

This will be a rotating scholarship open to one region per year. For the 2019-20 school year, this scholarship is only open to applicants from Region 3: Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky.

NTHS Scholarships for SkillsUSA Members

The National Technical Honor Society annually awards four $1,000 scholarships to SkillsUSA members at the SkillsUSA National Leadership Conference. Two scholarships are awarded to high school members, and two scholarships are awarded to college/postsecondary members. To be eligible, students must be active, dues-paying members of both SkillsUSA and NTHS. To apply, schools must have an active NTHS chapter.

Robert Flint Student Leadership Development Scholarship

SkillsUSA members with financial needs may be eligible for a Student Leadership Development Scholarship to attend the Activate and Leverage in June or the Washington Leadership Training Institute (WLTI) in September. Four scholarships at $1,300 each will be awarded to attend Activate and Leverage training and four scholarships at $800 each will be awarded to attend WLTI. Nominations can only be made by a state association director. For details, contact your state SkillsUSA office.

Sharon Melton Myers Memorial Scholarship

Through a donation from the Sharon Melton Myers Memorial Fund, SkillsUSA and the McMinn County Vocational Center SkillsUSA Alumni Association are offering a $500 scholarship to a SkillsUSA student in memory of Sharon Melton Myers. The Sharon Melton Myers Memorial SkillsUSA Scholarship fund will provide graduating SkillsUSA members the opportunity to continue their education in college or technical school. Apply online.

 

Culinary Institute of America National Student Organization Scholarship

The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) is offering a special scholarship opportunity to members of the national student organizations SkillsUSA, ProStart®, and Family Career & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).

The National Student Organization (NSO) Scholarships consist of thirty one-time $3,000 scholarships for active members of any of the three organizations in their high schools. The CIA also provides separate scholarships for students who place strongly in culinary or baking and pastry competitions through SkillsUSA, ProStart®, and FCCLA and for those who serve as officers of their organization’s chapters.

 

International SkillsUSA Degree 

The deadline for submission of applications for the International SkillsUSA Degree is May 1. Students who successfully receive the degree are eligible for the International SkillsUSA Degree Scholarship. To qualify, all candidates must submit a letter of application for the scholarship within 45 days of receipt of the degree. The scholarship candidate must include with the application copies of receipts for lodging, meals, travel, and preparation of the presentation. SkillsUSA will reimburse up to $1,000 for preparation and receipt of the degree. This includes materials purchased for the presentation. No reimbursement will be awarded without proper documentation. Letters and accompanying materials are to be sent to: International SkillsUSA Degree Review Committee, c/o SkillsUSA, 14001 SkillsUSA Way, Leesburg, VA 20176.
