          <title>SkillsUSA Mass. Student named to TeamUSA for WorldSkills 2009!</title>
          <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;October 31, 2008, South Easton, MA:&lt;/strong&gt; SkillsUSA Massachusetts is proud to announce, National SkillsUSA, sponsor of TeamUSA, has named &lt;strong&gt;Scott Raymond&lt;/strong&gt; of &lt;strong&gt;East Hampton, Massachusetts&lt;/strong&gt; to TeamUSA as the United States competitor in Collision Repair Technology for the &lt;strong&gt;2009 WorldSkills Competition (&lt;span class=&quot;caps&quot;&gt;WSC&lt;/span&gt;)&lt;/strong&gt; which will take place in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on September 1-7, 2009.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Raymond is a 2007 graduate of Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School, Superintendent Frank Llamas, and 2007 SkillsUSA National Gold Medalist/SkillPoint&amp;#8482; Certificate recipient. Raymond is currently attending Universal Technical Institute in Norwood, Massachusetts perusing additional training in Collision Repair, Diesel Equipment Technology and Automotive Technology.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;SkillsUSA Massachusetts and SkillsUSA&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;SkillsUSA Massachusetts, in partnership with business and industry, provides opportunities for members to develop individually and improve teamwork, leadership and professional skills through education, training, service, and competition. SkillsUSA Massachusetts is a state association of SkillsUSA, a national organization serving more than 270,000 high school and college students and professional members who are enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled, and service occupations, including health occupations.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;SkillsUSA prepares America’s high performance workers. It provides quality education experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development. It builds and reinforces self-confidence, work attitudes and communications skills. It emphasizes total quality at work, high ethical standards, superior work skills, life-long education and pride in the dignity of work. SkillsUSA also promotes understanding of the free enterprise system and involvement in community service activities.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;SkillsUSA is a member of &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.worldskills.org/&quot;&gt;WorldSkills International&lt;/a&gt; &amp;#8211; The International Vocational Training Organization headquartered in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This organization sponsors the biennial WorldSkills Competition (&lt;span class=&quot;caps&quot;&gt;WSC&lt;/span&gt;).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;WorldSkills Calgary 2009&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Over its 50-year history, the WorldSkills Competition has come to symbolize the pinnacle of excellence in skilled trades and technologies training.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Every two years, hundreds of young competitors from all over the world gather to compete in this international event. The Competition sets world class standards in over 40 skill categories ranging from welding to cooking, auto body repair to landscape gardening, plumbing to web design.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Competition also draws thousands of visitors including policy makers, government representatives, employers, teachers, trainers, and experts from around the world.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Competitions will be held September 2-5, 2009 at Calgary Stampede Park. 400 tonnes of tools and 4 million tonnes of equipment will be used during the Competition.           <title>SkillsUSA Massachusetts holds holiday party community service</title>
          <description>&lt;p&gt;SkillsUSA Massachusetts in conjunction with Plymouth South High School&amp;#8217;s Chapter of SkillsUSA and the SkillsuSA Massachusetts Alumni Association teamed up to host a holiday party for 29 children from the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Plymouth.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The party, which was held at Plymouth South High School, featured arts &amp;amp; crafts, games, music, and an ice cream social as well as a visit from Santa who came bearing a bag of gifts for each child! The gift bags included toys, books, and a hat and gloves/mittens set for each child.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The State Executive Council raised $1,051.00 to purchase toys and provide the ice cream social. The state officers also organized a hat &amp;amp; glove drive as well as a book drive during the Fall State Leadership Conference in order to provide these items to our guests at the holiday party.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Alumni Association provided the arts and crafts as well as music. Plymouth South High School’s Chapter of SkillsUSA provided the facilities, a pizza party for lunch and the student officers at Plymouth South also contacted the World Champion Boston Red Sox about the event and the Red Sox responded with an autographed baseball to be given away during the party.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The staff of the Boys and Girls Club, who accompanied the children to the party, were grateful and the children seemed to have a wonderful time in the company of SkillsUSA. – Thank you to all who made this wonderful activity possible!&lt;/p&gt;</description>
