State Leadership and Skills Conference

State Leadership & Skills Conference

Welcome to States

The SkillsUSA Massachusetts State Leadership and Skills Conference, featuring the Mass. SkillsUSA Championships, is the largest educational gathering in the Commonwealth. It features over 2,000 participants competing in 63 skill competitions and 17 leadership competitions in addition to state officer elections. The conference is made possible by countless hours of work performed by an army of volunteers as well as the generous donations of over a hundred business and industry partners.

Competitors earn a spot at the championships by competing and winning at the local and district levels. Gold medalists at the state level will earn a spot on Team Massachusetts to compete at the National SkillsUSA Championships, held annually in Kansas City, Missouri.

Technical Standards: Relevant and Up-To-Date

Our contest technical standards are created with the help of our business and industry partners to ensure our contestants can meet the demands of the industry. A new edition of the standard is published very Spring, approximately a month before the championships. The current edition is online for your reference.

State T-Shirt and Pin Design Competition

We hold a T-Shirt and Pin Design Competition annually. The winning T-Shirt design will become the official conference T-Shirt, official state T-Shirt at Nationals, and featured on the program cover. The winning pin design will become the official state trading pin at Nationals. More information is available at the T-Shirt Design Competition and Pin Design Competition pages.

State Conference Student Advisory Council

Another way for students to be involved in a leadership role at the conference, the student advisory council was established in 1995 to assist in the planning of the SLSC, as well as provide input on how to improve the conference year-after-year. For more information, please visit the Student Advisory Council page.
